BC government to announce legislation regulating short-term rentals Monday

In October 2023, the Government of British Columbia will introduce legislation to regulate short-term rentals and help improve housing affordability and supply. This follows reports that nearly 17,000 homes have been removed from the long-term rental market, leading to an increase in monthly rent. The legislation will give more power to municipal governments to enforce the rules, similar to recent changes in Quebec and New York City.
