The Government of Canada and the City of Surrey have agreed to fast track 2,800 housing units over the next three years, with a goal of spurring the construction of over 16,500 homes in the next decade. The Housing Accelerator Fund will provide over $95 million to eliminate barriers to building housing, with a focus on higher density, student housing, homes near transit, and affordable housing. The fund aims to cut red tape and fast track at least 100,000 permitted new homes over the first three years.
